Judgment, Mercy, and the Character of God
This reading is written to encourage Christians to consider what we know, and what we don't know. Hell is often a pressure point for Christians and non-believers alike, when trying to reconcile God's Mercy with His absolute justice. The goal is not to produce a complete understanding, but to accept that Scripture consistently tells us that God's thoughts are not fully accessible. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
In this Reading
- What Scripture is Clear About
- The Thoughts of Our God are not Fully Accessible
- God's Mercy is not Exhaustive
- The Passion Is Chronological in Meaning, Not Just Narrative
